…your government is in control again.”
This sums up the last eight years pretty succinctly. Sure, it’s all part of the heated rhetoric run-around that both the Democrats and Republicans give every four years at their conventions–but Kucinich, for one, seems pretty genuine in his aggravation. After all, he was one of the only politicians pressing the Democrats to impeach Bush (falling on deaf ears, naturally).
Of course, none of the major news organizations paid any amount of real attention to him. On CNN and other major news sites, there was a headline for approximately 3 minutes after his speech before they moved on. However, the small bloggers and independent media outlets lingered on for a bit.
This is the problem with Big Media, especially at convention time. They don’t dare go into any depth with those who seem a little too “radical.” Journalists with these organizations will take a moment, give a sound bite, and move on to focus on who is speaking next, what kind of political ploy this-person or that-person may be using, etc etc. There is no substance, only sound-bites and snubs.
PS: That is totally Deidre Hall from Days Of Our Lives, about 23 seconds into the clip. Turns out she’s a big Kucinich fan.

The news organizations fell vastly short of how I had expected them to cover the DNC (with the exception of PBS and C-Span, they did a pretty decent job), but I agree that the speech Kucinich delivered was pretty brilliant. He was nothing short of passionate, engaging and honest and it really is a damn shame that his efforts to impeach Bush were in vain when there was a much larger case built against him than there was against Clinton; blowjob vs. deceiving the entire american population and leaving the country in ruin…..hmmm.
Sound bites and Snubs…a damn shame indeed
the tv [by which i mean mass media] is all just noise [by which i mean shit].
